Encounter Checks

When They Occur

Sometimes entering a new hex tile will require you to roll an Encounter check. Not all hex tiles will contain Encounter checks. Generally, safer areas are free from Encounters.

If you are required to make an Encounter check, this will automatically be given to your character as an assigned roll after you move into the new hex tile.

Difficulty

Different hex tiles have different chances of an Encounter occuring. Usually, the wilder or more dangerous the area is, the more likely it is that an Encounter will occur – or the more difficult it is to avoid.

The Difficulty of an Encounter check will be shown with the assigned roll.

Making A Check

To roll an Encounter check, go to the Roll screen an select the assigned roll. You will need to roll a D10. If your roll is equal or higher than the Encounter Difficulty, then you will avoid an Encounter. If your roll is lesser, you will be assigned an Encounter Card.

Drawing An Encounter Card

If you have been assigned an Encounter Card, you will need to draw a card from the Encounter deck in the Draw screen.

Moving With Your Warband

If the hex tile you are moving into is already occupied by another member of your warband, you do not need to roll for an Encounter check.

Encounter checks and Encounter cards are both assignments. You may need to complete these assignments before attempting to perform other actions, and you must complete all assignments before the current player turn phase can be ended.
