Attacking

TO DO

Making an Attack Action

You can attack an NPC or player that you have Vantage or Strike on.

Attacking uses up 1 Action Point. However, an attack will be the final action in your turn. Any remaining Action Points are discarded. There are some special abilities that can allow you to attack multiple times in your turn.

Using Your Weapons

If you have gained Strike on a target, your attack will be made with your equipped melee weapon.

If you have gained Vantage on a target, your attack will be made with your equipped ranged weapon, and will use up one of your equipped Shot items. If you have no Shot items remaining, you cannot make a ranged attack.

Rolling to Hit

Choose the targeted NPC or player and make an attack roll to hit the target. An attack roll compares your Strength versus the target's Toughness. The companion app will automatically calculate the required roll for you, applying all relevant modifiers.

If you are using a ranged weapon, the weapon's Strength value will be used instead of your character's Strength statistic.

The stronger your attack is, or the less resilient your target is, the lower the required score will be for your attack to be successful.

Roll a D10 to attempt to hit the target. If the number you roll is equal to or higher than the required score, your attack has succeeded.

Armour Saves and Critical Hits

If the attack is successful, the target will be assigned an Armour Save roll.

If your attack roll was a 10, the attack is a Critical Hit. The target may not make an armour save roll and receives the relevant amount of damage immediately.

If they are assigned an Armour Save, the target must roll a D10 to attempt to block the attack. The stronger their armour is, the lower the required score will be. If the number they roll is equal to or higher than the required score, the armour save was successful and the attack has been blocked. They will receive zero damage.

If they fail the roll – or received a Critical Hit – they will receive damage equal to the Damage value of your equipped melee weapon, or the Damage value of your equipped Shot item in the case of ranged attacks. The target must subtract the damage amount from their Health.

Who Can Attack

Players and NPCs who have the Knocked Down keyword cannot make attacks and may not be targeted by attacks.

Players and NPCs who have the Frozen or Overwhelmed keyword cannot make attacks, however they can targeted by attacks as normal.
